There are 3 48 albums in the works. Part 1 came out on the 26th October 2012. Part 2 is released on the 14th June 2013. The third will be released on October 26th 2013. There will be a boxset out on the 1st March 2014 that will comprise of all three albums. Well, that's the general plan. Unless one of us snuffs it.
Each album is written, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered all within 48 hours. This isn't 48 hours altogeher, this is over time. We're not that hardcore!
48 Part 1 was written about my break-up with my wife and the effect that had on me and those around me. I found it a very difficult time, so I used my love of songwriting to help me through. Boyd and I used to joke 'It would be great to get dumped, then we could write a good messed up album'. Fate is annoying, and the result was the album '48:Part 1'. It's by far the most personal record I've ever made, and one I'm very proud of. I particularly like 'Two Houses' and 'Hold Me Down' which features my friend Jai Blaze. But to be honest, I love it all (well, apart from Busy Keeping Busy which I think I will cut from the boxset!).
48 Part 2 was written from January 2013 and is mainly about what happens next, dealing with the rest of your life and what it all really means. I'm loving the sound and vibe of these songs already. For this album, we're trying to include more friends and people we admire. So watch this space.
48 Part 3 will be a solo album of mainly acoustic songs. I intend to write and record this while travelling in the summer.
